Beaumont Inn bed and breakfast is only 30 minutes from Keeneland, and when you leave Keeneland to return to the inn, you will be going opposite most of the traffic (since most folks head toward Lexington). We are a lovely alternative to a hotel. Many of our guests enjoy a day at Keeneland, then return to the inn for fine food in one of Beaumont's restaurants and drinks in the Tavern. While Keeneland has live racing for three weeks in April and three weeks in October, visitors are
welcome year round with plenty to see.
With its tranquil setting and lovely stone fences and buildings, this national historic landmark is one of the most genteel and beautiful racetracks in the world. Keeneland is a combination Thoroughbred race course and sales company located six miles west of Lexington in the heart of Kentucky's famed Bluegrass Region. Keeneland provides superior year-round training facilities and annually conducts race meetings of the highest caliber in April and October. Keeneland offers simulcast racing year-round at its facility. Visitors can watch racing from all over the country on one of hundreds of televisions and wager while enjoying lunch against a beautiful backdrop. Shop in the gift shop, talk a self-guided walking tour of the grounds, and visit the library.
Thoroughbred sales are held five times yearly with two-year olds selling in April, yearlings selling in July and September, breeding stock in November, and horses of all ages in January. Anyone interested in attending one of the sales can do so simply by coming to Keeneland. You do not need to buy a ticket, make a reservation or pay an admission price. Also, you do not have to come with any intention to buy. You are more than welcome to attend as an observer, although seats in the Keeneland sales pavilion are reserved for buyers and sellers.
Grounds are open for visitation from 6:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily with no admission fee.
