Candied Sweet Potatoes (Southern Style)
6 medium sweet potatoes (cut in half)
3/4 cup water
2 cups brown sugar
4 tablespoons melted butter
1/4 cup broken pecans or walnutPut water, sugar and butter in a casserole on a very low heat to simmer. Peel and boil potatoes. When tender, transfer them to the syrup and add nuts. Bake in moderate oven (300 degrees) for 30 minutes. Serves 6 to 8.
